Dr. Parker is a specialist in spinal surgery. He provides surgical treatment of neurological disorders to patients of all ages with spinal disorders or pathology. Dr. Parker has a special clinical interest in the surgical treatment of spinal conditions including degenerative spine disease, spinal tumors, spinal deformity, and scoliosis. He employs minimally invasive techniques when possible. Dr. Parker strives to optimize each patient’s outcome and experience with surgery utilizing meticulous surgical technique and clinical decisions guided by scientific evidence and data.
Dr. Parker attended the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for his medical training. Following medical school, Dr. Parker completed his neurosurgical training at Vanderbilt University Hospital. His training included a fellowship in complex spinal surgery.
Dr. Parker’s academic interests center around clinical outcomes research, with the goal of understanding factors associated with improved patient outcomes and experience with surgery. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and routinely presents his research at national and international conferences. His contributions have earned numerous awards from organizations including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, North American Spine Society, and Southern Neurosurgical Society.
